What Is CatBirdDog?
The concept behind "CatBirdDog" at Eggbug Animation Studio started when we had the concept a story that would be wacky and weird while also keeping the story accessible and the characters “real”. Instead of waiting to produce a full slate of animations, we decided to storyboard out a few scenes, before realising we could capture a lot of what we loved about the idea in a comic.
This project is a celebration of the creative freedom that social media offers, allowing individuals to express themselves and share their ideas without limitation. Several independent animations, like The Amazing World of Gumball and Bee and PuppyCat, originated as webcomics and went on to achieve massive success through crowdfunding, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and garnering large fanbases in the process.
How did this all start?
Cat Bird Dog started, as all great ideas do, with a few rough sketches and characters we instantly fell in love with. From those initial concepts, the project quickly took on a life of its own, evolving into something much bigger and more exciting than we’d first imagined. Each character and storyline began to shape the world we wanted to create.
From there, we crafted a tailored social media strategy, developing our own unique posting formula designed to maximize follower interaction and expand outreach across platforms. With each post, we’re not just sharing content; we’re building engagement and a loyal community around the story.
